Free Chinese Dr Pepper?

Misguided diplomacy is more like it. (am I right?)

So. Did ANYONE get their free Dr Pepper Sunday? No? How about on the Monday extension? Well, I didn't. I've yet to hear of anyone who did.

Know the story? Some smart ass at Dr. Pepper announced in March that if Axl Rose would get the Chinese Democracy LP out before the end of 2008, everyone in the United States would receive a free Dr. Pepper. He (presumably the president) also said that Slash would not receive one since he played on the album. Now, I'm not a G 'n R historian or fact checker by any means, but even I know that Slash disassociated himself with Axl and the Guns 'n Roses brand at some point in the mid 90's. Axl caught wind of the offer and said "Slash doesn't play on the album, but I'll gladly give him mine."

Isn't that sweet? Not quite as sweet as the sweet refreshing taste of Dr. Pepper. It's just what the Doctor ordered.

Praise from Caesar. (and praise for Caesar)

Now here's the angry part. They made it damn near impossible to get yer drink on. The site crashed repeatedly, and the toll free number was constantly busy. I guess they got complaints, because they ran it again for a limited time on Monday with similar results. I've been drinking Dr. Pepper for ages. I even (sadly) had an online account at their website. It's not like I was a n00b ready to pwn their generosity. I couldn't even log in.

What about Axl? Seriously? He looks like Meg Ryan.

Here's the Axl we all remember:

Now...he's nothing but synthetic cornrows and botox juice:

With the too little too late release of Chinese Democracy, we're not too far off from a full fledged "Remember the 80's?" Reunion:

Really...I still remember him slagging Eagles of Death Metal. They opened up for "guns and roses" a few years back, and Axl called them...pigeons of shit metal...or something like that. EoDM are a pretty good band. They do it for fun. It's too bad Tommy Hilfiger didn't have a good left cross.

But...enough about that. Have you Facebooked the NonPros yet? There's a few songs posted up there for your enjoyment. The songs are different than the ones on the MySpace player, and they're in higher quality since Facebook doesn't compress the hell out of an already compressed file source. Nerd alert!
