First off, wanna thank all of our friends for coming out to Brunie's on Saturday. It was an all-around awesome show and definitely the most fun we've had in awhile. From middle-aged men walking in with wine glasses out of a limo to me vomiting, there were great things for everyone.

Speaking of two men, I wanted to throw out something for Californians upset about Proposition 8. The law was passed and effectively banned gay marriage in the state. No matter how you feel about the results, I think you can all agree that it would have been handily defeated if this video was broadcast in front of all the voting locations:

I Challenge You To Challenge Me (to Barrack Harder Than We)

From the 'way back machine,' here's the NonPros and Ben Wilson performing @ The Front Page in Clarksville. I'm pretty sure this was September 15th, 2007.

Some boring history on the show: The Deli pays very (VERY) little, and we played specifically to play with Ben...so we took advantage of as much free booze as we could. The Deli gives you absolutely no incentive to want to perform there, besides their stigma of being "the only place in town to perform." From the sound of things this was the final song of the evening, which would mean it's about 1:30 a.m. I'll comb through the tape to see if there's a better performance from that night (I remember it being a pretty well received show by those in attendance).

Anyway...I Challenge You will be a featured track on the upcoming NonPros CD. So, here's a half-assed preview.

Bittersweet Symphnoy: All Hail the Great Pumpkin.

A sports related blog on a music website? Well, I'm an alumnus of "The Real UT" the University of Tennessee so I'm allowed to break non-existent rules. Plus, it might bring in some stray google hits. So, welcome Interwebbers.

I'll admit that I wanted Coach Fulmer out as soon as he came in. For anyone who forgot (or didn't know), he kind of kicked Johnny Majors' gin-soaked carcass out the door back in 1992. But...as a fellow opportunist, I could never fully fault him for that. What killed me was the total domination that Spurrier had over him...year after year...team after team...it was enough to make you sad.
Great Pumpkin

He brought me 2 SEC Championship (97 & 98) and a National Championship (1998) while I attended school there. How many people can say they won a National Championship while they were in school? Well...tens of thousands. But I did it @ Tennessee. That's totally unheard of. My school is so looked down on that I even ended a sentence with a preposition because I felt like it. We can't be tamed.

My heart goes out to him, because he does "bleed orange." For 35 seasons he's either played or coached at that school. He was a hell of a recruiter (for a time), but was a bit cowardly when it came to his calls. I'll miss him, even though I always said I wouldn't. Seventeen years is too long to stay in a position. Period. Just ask Joe Pa and Bobby Bowden (Penn State's current record not-withstanding).

So, while I'm looking forward to a brand new chapter in UT football, I'm worried that I'm not going to like our latest scapegoat. If we could get a decent quarterback and a running back with some sticky gloves...we'd at least beat Auburn, UCLA, or South Carolina.

When it's time to change, then it's time to change:

Dude...can you believe that Maureen McCormick became a coke whore? AND wrote a book about it? Well...I can...

Seriously...Brunie's on Saturday. Starts early, 8:30.
